Major Joseph Ocran (Rtd) Laid to Rest

Funeral Service of the late Maj Joseph Kwame Ocran (Rtd) has been held at the St. Catherine Catholic Church, Burma Camp on Friday January 31, 2020.

He joined the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) as a Private Soldier on July 25, 1960. He was posted to the then Ghana Armed Forces Training School (GAFTS) after passing out, where he undertook his first military course on July 3, 1961.

Afro Q, as he was affectionately known by his superiors, peers and subordinates was hardworking and by dint of his hard work and having met all the criteria to qualify as a member of the Officer Corps, Major Ocran (Rtd) entered the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), on April 22, 1977 and commissioned on October 21, 1977 with Special Duty Intake 1/77.

 As an astute Officer, he had the opportunity to serve under some United Nations Peacekeeping Operations such the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Ghanbatt 14, 26 and 35 respectively. He also served with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) cease fire monitoring group in Liberia also Ghanbatt 4, 5 and 6.

He was laid to rest in Breman Brakwa in the Central Region and was survived by a wife, Madam Agnes Gyaafi and ten children.
