HQ Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held its end of year West African Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA) to mark a successful year at the forecourt of the headquarters at Nyohini Camp on Friday 10 January 2020.

The ceremony brought together Retired Officers and Men, Civilian Employees and families to merry and strengthens family ties with the Command.

The event was marked with a number of activities such as dancing and Weapon striping and assembling which were performed by personnel from 6BN and Airborne Force respectively.

The Guest of Honour, Savannah Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Adam Braimah congratulated personnel of the Command for safeguarding the security needs of the country through internal operations as well as participation in external operations like UN Peace Support Operations.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command, Brig Gen Moses Mohammed Aryee in his address encourage troops to be steadfast, work diligently and complement each other’s effort in order to put the GAF in an esteem position.

He added that as the year unfolds towards the countries general election, the Garrison was ever ready to act professionally in performing their duties in that regard within the jurisdiction.

Brig Gen Aryee commended troops within the Command and the Garrison and also use the opportunity to thank the Military High Command for their support throughout the year.

 In attendance were the North East regional Minister, Hon Solomon Namliit Boar and Regional Commanders from other sister security services.
