Counsellor, Political and Public Affairs at the Canadian High Commission, Pasquale Salvaggio has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff (COS), Maj Gen Thomas Oppong-Peprah at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp on Thursday, 19 December 2019.
Led by Director Education, Colonel (COL) A Asmah, Pasquale Salvaggio discussed among others with the COS, the collaborative efforts of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on the Elsie Initiative so far. The Elsie Initiative is an innovative way of increasing female participation in peace support operations with stakeholders which was launched by the government of Canada in November 2017.
Mr Pasquale Salvaggio also touched on the timeline for Elsie Initiative’s activities with the GAF in the year 2020. According to him, efforts toward achieving the objectives and goals of Elsie Initiative in 2019 with the GAF had been satisfactorily.
He was accompanied by the Senior Liaison Officer at the Canadian High Commission, Miss Diane Tisdall.
The COS expressed his profound gratitude to the Counsellor and the Canadian High Commission for their support in relation to the Elsie Initiative.
