The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command, Brigadier General Abraham Yeboah Nsiah has said the Army should be prepared to prevent and protect the country from any terrorist attacks.
He made this statement at the Sothern Command’s festival of Nine Lessons and Carols / Singing Competition under the theme “Peace on Earth, Goodwill among Men” on Thursday, December 18, 2019 at St Michael Catholic Church at Michel Camp.
According to Brig Gen AY Nsiah, although there were incidents of security threats within the West African sub-regions, the army was prepared to confront unforeseen challenges to foster security toward national development.
Brig Gen AY Nsiah further advised personnel to be vigilant and conduct themselves professionally in the delivery of their duties. He urged them to make efforts to change bad attitude and behaviours that could drag the name of the Army into disrepute.
GOC disclosed that in the year 2020, personnel would undergo lots of training and exercises to equip them to counter terrorism. He added that personnel of Southern Command should not relent on their duties but always work hard to emerge first in drills and in all activities of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In the singing competition, 1 Infantry Battalion Youth Choir emerged winners whilst 48 Engineers Youth Choir and HQ Southern Command Choir came second and third respectively.
