145 personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), who underwent a career advancement course at the School of Ordinance, have been awarded certificates by the Accra Technical University (ATU) during the 19th congregation of the school on Saturday 30 November 2019.
This is the first batch of GAF personnel graduating with certificates from the ATU, under a special collaborative agreement between the two institutions.
Certificates awarded include Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Diploma in Fashion Design and Textiles and Diploma in Leather Crafting from the Faculties of Business and Applied Arts.
The Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Prof Kojo Yankah hailed the GAF/ATU collaboration indicating that the certificate would remain relevant to the personnel even after military service. He said, “this is the least a nation can do for its men in uniform after a period of dedicated service.”
He congratulated the graduands for the successful completion of the course and setting the pace for other GAF personnel to follow.
In a message read by the Deputy Commandant, Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS), Brig Gen Solomon Osabutey on behalf of the Commandant (MATS), Maj Gen W Omane- Agyekum, congratulated the graduands for sealing the collaboration between the two institutions upon a successful completion of the maiden course.
He encouraged the graduands to display the knowledge acquired from the course in their work output with excellence and professionalism as the bedrock.
