A brief mission accomplishment ceremony has been held to welcome troops of Ghanaian Engineer Company (GHANENGCOY) 9 after serving with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on Thursday 18 August, 2022 at the 5th Infantry Battalion Square, Burma Camp.
The Deputy Chief Staff Officer for Policy and Plans, Big Gen CK Lithur who was the Reviewing Officer for the parade welcomed troops on behalf of the Military High Command from a successful tour. Brig Gen Lithur acknowledged their operational performance which included extensive engineering works they undertook in the mission area, as well as the quick reaction they demonstrated when their camp came under attack on 15 April 2022. He added the Military High Command was impressed with the efficient and professional manner with which they conducted their operational activities during their tour of duty.
He also mentioned that their selfless efforts in humanitarian support to the vulnerable and the war-weary populace in their area of operational responsibility had contributed to the success of the MINUSMA mandate, and had further deepened the cordial relationship between the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and that of the Malian Armed Forces.
The Chief G3 Peace Support Operations, Col Joshua Amanor read a citation on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Thomas Oppong Peprah.
