Ghana Engineer Company 10 (GHANENCOY 10) on Thursday 7 July 2022 donated 30 unused mattresses to the Toya Community Health Centre in the Timbuktu Region of Mali. The donation, which was received by the head physician at the facility, Dr Cisse Alphady was in response to a request for assistance by the facility’s administrators through the Mission’s Sector Headquarters (HQ).

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali’s (MINUSMA) Ghana Engineer Company 10, as part of its Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) responsibilities, responded to the request and made the donation to the Health Centre. Based on earlier assessment done in conjunction with the Sector HQ’s CIMIC Staff, the Community Health Center was assessed to be in dire need of mattresses.

Dr Cisse Alphady expressed his appreciation to the Unit for the support and promised the mattresses will be put to good use.

The Company Commander, Lt Col EK Poku indicated that civil-military relations is held in high regard within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and just as previous Engineer Companies had offered support to the locals within the Timbuktu Region, GHANENGCOY 10 will continue to support the Region within its means to ensure and promote cordial relations between the local community and MINUSMA.

The Community of Toya is located about 20km from Timbuktu’s main city with a population of about 8000 locals.
