Brigadier General Mohammed Moses Aryee has officially handed over command as General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command of the Ghana Army to Brigadier General Matthew Essien in a short ceremony at the Northern Command Headquarters on Thursday 7 July 2022.

The Guest of Honour for the ceremony, the Northern Regional Minister, Honourable Shani Alhassan Shaibu in his remarks expressed his appreciation to the outgoing GOC for his outstanding performance and leadership in leading his officers and men to maintain peace and security in the northern sector despite the complex and demanding nature of their operations.

Hon Shaibu also emphasized that during the period of command of Brig Gen Aryee, his professional posture, presence and ability to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders impacted positively on moving the region forward.

The outgoing GOC, Brig Gen Aryee on his part paid tribute to the officers, soldiers as well as civilian employees who played various roles tirelessly during his tenure of office to help in achieving the vision of the command.

He expressed his confidence in the vision and leadership skills of his successor, Brig Gen Essien to lead the command to continue fulfilling its mission of serving the Northern Regions of Ghana even in the face of numerous internal and external threats.

Brig Gen Aryee implored all Officers, Soldiers and   Defence Civilian Staff to support the incoming GOC in a similar manner so that together, the Northern Command will continue to excel in the execution of its mandate in the service of mother Ghana.
