The Force Commander (FC) of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Lt Gen Cornelis Johannes Matthijssen has visited the Ghana Engineer Company (GHANENG COY 10) currently serving in Tombouctou, Mali on Monday 4 July, 2022. The working visit was part of his 3-day stopover at the Sector.

The Officer Commanding (OC) GHANENGCOY 10, Lt Col Edward Kofi Poku welcomed the FC and briefed him on all engineer operations. They discussed the challenges confronting the stalled rotation and some logistical constraints.

The FC in his remarks highlighted the rotational challenges faced by West African countries within the mission and further indicated that he was hopeful that lifting of sanctions would allow for the successful completion of all rotations.

He commended personnel of GHANAENGCOY for their professionalism, dedication and resilience despite the challenges. Lt Gen Matthijssen congratulated the OC and his team for all completed and ongoing engineer works within the Sector.   

The FC was accompanied by the Sector West Commander, Brig Gen Joel Bewanlo and MINUSMA Forces Sergeant Major and other dignitaries from the Mission Headquarters.
