African Peacekeeping Rapid Response Partnership (APRRP) has organized a “Tactical Combat Casualty Care Course” for Medical Officers of the 37 Military Hospital at the Quarter Master Yard of the Hospital.

The course which was on Thursday, January 13, 2022 led by a 3 member delegation from the United States of America Air force was to help equip the medical officers with the knowledge of managing Casual care on the field.

The leader of the delegation, Col Dr Timothy Ballard expressed his delight in the commitment of the course participants. He added that the training would go a long way to make Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) independent with regards to tactical casualty care in the field of operation.

Commander (GN) Aggrey-Orleans, a course observer in his remarks stated that he will be delighted if in the near future the course is centralized within some of the formations within GAF to expand the scope of training to majority of medical officers.

The course coordinator Maj Rossi Adu-Gyamfi in his remarks thanked the team and advised the participants to take the exercise seriously because it the same procedure they will employ in treating people who fall victims of casualty in future.

The course participants were made up of 16 medical officers from the Ghana Armed Forces. 14 of them were from 37 Military Hospital and two others were from other Medical Reception Stations (MRS).

However, there was a simulation exercise to demonstrate to officers on how a casualty can be handled in the near future or in reality.
