The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the mutual relationship and to boost the bilateral and multilateral ties that existed between both countries. The visit was a historical one due to the fact that it was the first time a Head of State from Hungary had paid such visit to the Republic of Ghana.

The Hungarian president expressed his appreciation to Prez Akufo-Addo for the invitation and reaffirms his commitment to deepening the relationship in areas of agriculture, water, forestry and energy alluding to the considerable experience of Hungary in those sectors.

He recounted that in a quest to help control the COVID pandemic, Hungary had donated eight hundred thousand (800,000) vaccines to help Ghana support the fight against COVID-19 and promised to add later four hundred thousand (400,000) vaccines.

On his part, president Akufo-Addo commended HE Janos Ader for honoring the invitation and for the support of Ghana’s election to the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) for the term 2022 and 2023. He said that Ghana received the highest number of votes which could not be possible without the support of HE Janos Ader.

Prez Akufo-Addo reiterated that Africa has been confronted with multiple threats in the territorial integrity of some of its regions and many of the civilian populations had become vulnerable. He mentioned that it was an advantage of Ghana in the position of the UNSC to help push for the maintenance of international peace and security especially in the region.
