Ghana Navy Marks Sixtieth Anniversary with a Route March

Personnel of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) have embarked on an 11 kilometer Route March in commemoration of its sixtieth anniversary on Monday, 29 July 2019.

The march which aimed at fostering cordial civil-military relations comprised of f 280 personnel including Officers, men and women, civilian employees, some representatives from Naval Wives Association and well-wishers took part in the march.

Participants started the four-hour march at 0730 hours from Tema Community nine (T-Havana) through communities eight, seven, four, one to the amenity centre at the Biekro Barracks in Tema Newtown.

The Flag Officer Commanding ENC, Commodore James Osei Kontoh noted that the march offered the participants the opportunity to educate the public on the role of the Ghana Navy, which include protection of the country’s territorial waters and enhancement of maritime laws.

Commodore J O Kontoh indicated that for the past 60 years of Ghana Navy’s establishment, they have ensured that Ghana’s waters were safe. As part of the anniversary he added that the Naval Base would organize an open day for the general public on September 28.
