The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ministry for National Security has held a seminar on National Security Strategic document at the Naval Headquarters in Burma camp, Accra on Thursday, 13 January 2022.
The document which was early on launched by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in June 2021 is to enable stakeholders in the security sphere deal effectively with existing, new and emerging threats to the country.
The Minister for National Security, Hon Albert Kan-Dapaah in his address said the document seeks to maintain Ghana as a peaceful, tolerant, socially cohesive, secure and prosperous constitutional and democratic nation..
Hon Kan-Dapaah bemoaned that armed robbery, chieftaincy disputes, piracy, threats of secession by certain groups, unemployment and terrorist activities along Ghana’s borders were on top of the list of security challenges bedeviling the country, and therefore urged GAF to control the narratives.
The Defence Minister, Hon Dominic Nitiwul in his remarks commended the National Security for the sensitization workshop for GAF on the National Security Strategic document, which he said would go a long way to enhance security in the country.
The Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama in his welcome address said GAF remains the key national asset within the national security landscape, and well positioned to play significant roles in achieving the security and defense objectives of the strategy
