The Ghana Armed Forces Public Relations Institute (GAFPRI) has held a graduation ceremony for the Intermediate Photography and Advance Information Studies Course 1-2021 at the forecourt of the school in Burma Camp, Accra on Monday 20 December 2021.
The Chief Instructor (CI) Mr Ahiato in his opening remarks said, GAFPRI was currently facing some infrastructure and furniture deficit and would plead to command to assist the institute to get some office space and office furniture, a mess and a renovation of the lecture halls. He added that. It was the aspirations of the school to start awarding diploma certificate to students who participate in the advance course to aid them easily upgrade themselves when they apply for a degree in recognized institutions.
The Acting Director of the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), Commander (Cdr) La-Nyane who was the guest of honour congratulated the graduands for their professionalism and composure to attaining a remarkable and an outstanding performance during the course.
He said the GAFPRI was being considered to be placed under the Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS) due to some engagement he had with the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, Major General (Maj Gen) Peter Andoh. He therefore urged all to keep their hands crossed for a positive feedback.
According to Cdr La-Nyane, to be able to award a diploma certificate there was the need for the school to satisfy certain requirements especially from the National Accreditation Board (NAB) and also to have some affiliation with some recognized institution. He said command was going to consider that and look into it to see how best that could be accomplished.
The GAFPRI is a professional institute which was setup by DPR to train its personnel and personnel outside the directorate who are interested in practicing photography, news reporting and videography.
