The Western Naval Command (WNC), Sekondi, has held its first quarter religious parade under the theme “Love God and Thy Neighbour.” at the Harry Seshie Drill Shed on Sunday 7 March, 2024.

In his sermon, the immediate past Director Religious Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Commodore Paul Adjei-Djan admonished Personnel on the need to show love to one another. He said it was important for them to be each other’s keeper and not to rejoice when they see their fellow in difficulty.

He noted that they should form a united front and ensure a peaceful co-existence with their colleagues at all times and urged them to practice the same in their families.

During the Islamic homily, the Garrison Imam, Naval Lieutenant Abdul Manan Yusif spoke about the importance of showing love and its benefit. He noted that love ensured unity and togetherness among humans. He encouraged personnel to demonstrate the act of love wherever they found themselves.

The Flag Officer Commanding WNC, Commodore Emmanuel Ayesu Kwafo whose birthday coincided with the occasion thanked the almighty God for his life and the Command as a whole. He also thanked ratings and officers for their support and their display of professionalism. 

He averred that the theme for the occasion was appropriate because it encouraged them to show love to one another. He asked personnel to ensure togetherness at all times.

He said they would be faced with challenges through the course of their lives but they should not despair, but stand firm when the storms were raging high. He advised them to also show love to their families and support them the best way they could.

He seized the opportunity to congratulate the Command Coxswain, FCOP1 Lawrence Ayelvae on his appointment as the Command Sergeant Major (CSM) of the National College of Defence situated in Burma Camp. He urged others to also work hard in their respective fields and the good Lord shall reward them accordingly.

Present at the ceremony was the Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Logistics, Commodore Eric Osei, Senior Officers, Officers, Ratings and Defence Civilian Staffs (DCS).
