The Ghanaian Battalion serving with the United Interim Force in Lebanon (GHANBATT 90) has on Sunday, 31 December 2023 held a watch night service at the Obeng Camp to usher in the new year. The service which included gospel rock show, nine lessons and carols was full of thanks giving and gratitude to the Lord for his loving kindness throughout the year. The GHANBATT Chaplain, Captain Eric Antwi who preached on the theme Alpha, God! Omega God posited that God has redeemed the GHANBATT through difficult moments. He entreated all troops to pray without ceasing and rely on God. The Contingent Commander, Colonel George Abosi Oppong, in his new year message stated that the GHANBATT has every course to thank the Lord for his protection throughout the year. He cautioned troops to be vigilant in the new year, prepare for all scenarios, and not let their guards down since the security situation was still not stable. He admonished them to remain disciplined, security conscious and professional at all times. “Be committed to the tenants of our noble profession and endeavour in all our actions to preserve the esteemed image of the Ghana Armed Forces”, he added. Col Oppong expressed gratitude to the families back home who continuously stick through thick and thin, praying resiliently for the success of the GHANBATT.
