A 5- member delegation from the South Sudan Veterans Association (SSVA) has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama on Tuesday, 18 July 2023 at the General Headquarters in Burma Camp, Accra.
The aim of their visit is to study the administrative structure of Veterans Administration Ghana (VAG) so they can model theirs on it.
Vice Admiral Amoama in his remarks welcomed the delegation and thanked them for selecting Ghana to benchmark their veterans’ administrative structure. ‘At the end of your tour, you will say Ghana wasn’t a wrong choice’, he added.
Head of the delegation and undersecretary of veterans’ affairs, Lieutenant General Biam Attem Ajan thanked the military high command for the warm welcome and kind gesture since their arrival on Sunday, 16 July 2023 by the Ghana Armed Forces. He acknowledged that Ghana is playing a big role in the maintenance of peace in South Sudan. He mentioned that he and his delegation have learned a lot that will help them in organising the structure of the South Sudan Veterans Association.
Early on, the delegation visited the Ministry of Defence where the Deputy Minister of Defence, Honourable Kofi Amankwa Manu mentioned that, their visit will offer them a deeper understanding of Ghana’s security architecture, Ghana’s Tourism and Creative Arts industry as they visit Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Armed Forces Museum in Kumasi.
He assured the delegation of Government’s commitment to ensure the bonds of cooperation between the two countries especially in the area of Defence and Security.
