President of NDU engages TRADOC on curriculum alignment and certification framework

The President of the National Defence University (NDU), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Felix Asante, has paid his maiden visit to the Ghana Armed Forces Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), at Whistler Barracks, Teshie on Tuesday 22 July 2025.

The visit was to enable the President to gain first-hand information on the curricula and course content of the various training schools under TRADOC as well as explore avenues for synchronising and aligning them with the mandate of the National Defence University.

AVM Felix Asante said the National Defence University, would coordinate the tertiary education, train personnel and award certificates recognised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

"Let me assure you that the training schools will maintain their autonomy. The university’s role is to coordinate and award certificates to our students," he added.

AVM Asante commended the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for its active involvement in the establishment of the NDU, as well as its guidance and support in developing academic programmes and facilities.

As part of the engagement, the Deputy Chief Coordinator of TRADOC, Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Daniel Opoku, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the command’s activities. He outlined the roles and responsibilities of the various training schools and highlighted key operational, logistical, and administrative challenges facing the command.
