An Induction Religious Parade has been held at Barra Camp in The Gambia to usher the Officer Commanding (OC) Ghana Company (GHANCOY) 8, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Abraham Puoriyelle Dery into office.
Delivering the sermon under the theme "Unity is Strength," Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) ENTA Tackie-Yarboi emphasized the importance of unity and the recognition of authority and structure. He likened GHANCOY 8 to the human body, where both visible and invisible parts play crucial roles in the success of the whole. Flt Lt Tackie-Yarboi advised personnel to be professional in their actions. He urged commanders at all levels to exercise good judgment, maturity and responsibility and to be each other’s keeper.
In his remarks, Lt Col Dery expressed gratitude to God Almighty for his blessings and the Military High Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for the confidence reposed in him. He stated the essence of unity as a driving force for GHANCOY 8 to successfully achieve its mandate and further emphasized that any acknowledgement of the Company’s efforts would be shared by all. He highlighted the key attributes of strength, unity, diversity, and mutual respect as essential to the Company's success.
The Deputy Force Commander (DFC), Colonel (Col) Emekah Ernest Nlemadim, who represented the Force Commander of ECOMIG, expressed his appreciation for being invited as the Guest of Honour. He commended GHANCOY 8 for the multi-denominational nature of the Religious Parade, viewing it as an opportunity for fostering espirit de corps. Col Nlemadim stressed the importance of seeking God's guidance for success in all endeavors of GHANCOY 8. He reiterated the sermon’s message of unity to foster strength and success. He urged all personnel of the company to perform their roles diligently in support of command. He took the opportunity to advise troops on the need to resolve issues internally to preserve loyalty and mutual respect for the betterment and success of GHANCOY 8.
