As part of efforts to build capacity and improve the efficiency of troops, the Northern Command of the Ghana Army has conducted EXERCISE BURNING ARROW 23, on Monday 9 to Tuesday 10 October 2023.

The exercise, which provided the platform for Units under the command as well as participating security services within the region to be trained in Tactics, Techniques and Procedures related to Internal Security, Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism, served as a measure to curb the menace of terrorist activities close to the Ghanaian borders. The exercise was also used to test the operational readiness of the security services deployed to combat crime and other violent extremism within the area.

Furthermore, the exercise was aimed at testing the skills and coordination between the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services in joint operations such as Conquered Fist, Calm Life and Halt II.

Exercise Burning Arrow was held in various Northern border areas to increase awareness and sensitize the public of military presence, roles and effectiveness of the Northern Command as against acts of aggression by Terrorist Armed Groups and Violent Extremist Groups in the Northern Sector and Territorial space of Ghana.
