GOC PAYS OPERATIONAL VISITS TO 11 MECHANIZED BATTALION AND JOINT TASK FORCE IN BAWKU

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, has conducted operational visits to the 11 Mechanized Battalion and the Joint Task Force in Bawku on Friday 1 November 2024.

 During his visit, the GOC met with the Deputy Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Appiah, and interacted with troops from the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service deployed in Walewale and Bawku. He commended the troops for their professionalism and rapid response during the recent crisis in Bawku.

Brigadier General Tei assured the troops of the Military High Command’s commitment to providing logistical support to enhance their safety and operational effectiveness. He encouraged them to continue giving their best efforts to restore peace in Bawku and the Upper East Region as a whole.

The GOC conveyed the Military High Command’s commendation to all ranks for their exemplary conduct in managing the situation and advised them to maintain neutrality in their duties.

Colonel Yaw Owusu Appah, the Joint Task Force Commander, guided the GOC on a tour of various operational positions in Bawku.

The GOC also paid a courtesy call on the Upper East Regional Minister, Honourable Hafiz Bin Salih, and met with heads of other security agencies in the Upper East Region. He expressed his gratitude to the Regional Minister and the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) for their support and collaborative efforts during the recent escalation of conflict in Walewale and Bawku.

The Regional Minister acknowledged the sacrifices made by the military in restoring calm and stability in Bawku and its surroundings. He emphasised that security is a collective effort involving all security services, the government, and the general public.
