The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has held graduation dinner for Cadets of Regular Career Course 62 and Short Service Commission/Special Duties Course 60 at the Officer Cadet Mess, Teshie on Friday 3 November, 2023.

Guest of honour for the occasion, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Yakukbu in his address, praised the Officer Cadets for responding to the call of duty.

“You have chosen a path less travel. Words alone cannot express the gratitude we feel towards you for your unwavering commitment to serve your country”, he added.

He admonished them to be courageous and resilient in discharging their duties, especially when dealing with the civil populace and members of the other security agencies during joint operations reminding them that their leadership capabilities would be tested after commissioning. He urged them to be ambassadors of GMA and project the legacy of excellence the Academy exudes.

Rear Admiral Yakubu reiterated that their loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Military High Command and their superiors should never waver. He reminded them that they would be called upon to demonstrate unwavering strength even in the face of adversity.

“To live to this high calling, you will strive to be mentally robust and attain high physical and moral standards so as to gain the confidence of the troops you will be privileged to lead and that of the tax payer whose toils keep all of us in uniform”, he added.

Awards were presented to Officer Cadets who distinguished themselves throughout the training. Midshipman Owusu Ansah Patience won the Chief Defence Staff’s (CDS) Prize Essay Award. The Best Shot Award went to Flight Cadet Fugidetsi Michael whiles Flight Cadet Budu Adu Kwame received the Diamond Award. The Fleet Award went to Midshipman Suglo Vincent. Senior Cadet Ayivor Dela Nancy received the Tactics award. Cadet Sergeant Effah Bright and S/Cdt Odei Joseph Nartey form RCC Intake 62 and SSC/SD Course 60 respectfully received the leadership award.
