The Ghana Military Academy has held a change of status parade for cadets of Standard Military Course (SMC) 63 on Tuesday 18 June 2024 at the Whistler Barracks, Teshie.

The short ceremony marks their transition from the SMC phase to Regular Career Course (RCC) phase of the training, to enable them adapt to various challenging environments they might find themselves as they progress in their career.

The Reviewing Officer, the Deputy Commandant GMA, Brigadier Gen (Brig Gen) Llyod Kweku Atror in his remarks noted that the ceremony was important since it marked the upward turning point and second half of the training towards commissioning as officers into the Ghana Armed Forces.

He underscored that the SMC phase laid the foundation for developing the leadership qualities of cadets and the bedrock upon which cadets build further training to ensure that they are well prepared for the service.

Brig Gen Atror further encouraged the cadets to take their training seriously and urged them to eschew all forms of indiscipline and wanton distraction in order to attain the standards expected of cadets worthy of Presidential commission.

He assured the cadets that the instructors at the academy were always ready to assist them to achieve higher laurels, hence they should not hesitate to seek for assistance from them when the need arises.

The Deputy Commandant conferred on the cadets their new status of Senior Cadets and re-designate the intake from Standard Military Course (SMC) 63 to Regular Career Course (RCC) 63.
