The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has held an opening ceremony to commence Defence Management Course for participants of Senior Command and Staff Course 45 on Monday 1 July, 2024 at the Ankrah Hall, Teshie.

The course, organised under the Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Defence and International Politics (MDIP), aims to expose personnel within the security sector to issues, principles and techniques relevant to improving the governance and management of defence and security.

The Director General National Disaster Management Organization (DG NADMO), Honourable (Hon) Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, who was the Guest of Honour stated that technological advancements have revolutionized warfare and security operations. He explained that cyber security threats required robust mechanisms to protect infrastructure and safeguard digital assets.

He cited non-state actors like terrorism, insurgency and organized crime, as well as transnational threats as fundamental facets that have altered the traditional security paradigm.

Emphasising the need for the course participants to be equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills to enable them navigate the ever-changing and complex security landscape.

Hon Nana Agyemang-Prempeh advised the participants to foster deeper understanding of the complementary roles played by civil servants, military officers, and security services personnel to realize effective defence.
