The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Junior Staff Course 82, under the leadership of Course Instructor Colonel Dominic Buah, has visited the 1 Infantry Battalion (1BN) on Wednesday, 21 August 2024.

The visit which focused on a demonstration of "Battalion Headquarters on the Field," aimed at providing the officers with practical knowledge of the operational layout of a battalion HQ in the field.

Upon arrival, the course participants were warmly welcomed by Lt Col Frank Adams, Commander Rear of 1BN, who highlighted the crucial role of the battalion headquarters as the central command post for the battalion's security operations. The visit featured a simulated training exercise designed to enhance the readiness of the HQ in addressing and countering potential security threats.

The students received a detailed briefing on the operational aspects of the battalion HQ in the field, covering key topics such as types of command posts, battalion appointments, layout, principles, and tactical considerations. A weapon display was also organized, providing practical insights into equipment usage to improve the participants' proficiency in handling equipment and weapons under field conditions.

In addition to the training, the officers had the opportunity to tour the Battalion's deployment sites, where they were exposed to realistic combat scenarios. These simulations were intended to help the officers gain a better understanding of the challenges they might face in real battle situations, thereby preparing them for potential future engagements.
