GAF TO ESTABLISH BARRACKS AT KINTAMPO

COAS embarks on operational visit to assess land acquired establishing military barracks at Kintampo

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona has on Friday 28 July 2024, led a team of technocrats to assess the 4,889-acre of military land for the establishment of barracks at Kintampo.

The Omanhene of Kintampo, Nana Kwaku Dankwa III, on receiving COAS and the team revealed that the 4,889-acre military land has been protected to enable the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) revive and expand an old unused Base at Kintampo into a modern camp.

The Omanhene emphasized that a military barracks in Kintampo would provide a secure environment for socioeconomic growth and development in the area.

Major General Onwona stated that GAF had conceived the idea of the Kintampo barracks in 2010, and added that with the strategic expansion drive of GAF, it was important to put the plan into action. He assured the Omanhene and sub-chiefs that the necessary steps would be taken to expedite the establishment of the barracks.

COAS was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff (Logistics), R/Adm S Agyenim-Boateng, Director General (Logistics), Brig Gen KKK Kumi, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Operations and Training), Army Headquarters, Brig Gen KD Hagan, and Principal Staff Officers from the General Headquarters and the Army Headquarters.
