Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has described the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah as an exemplary and professional military officer.He expresses confidence Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has been placed in very competent hands when the CDS and principal staff officers from the General Headquarters paid a courtesy call on him at his Peduase residence on Tuesday 16 April, 2024. The former President Kufuor disclosed his assurance in the leadership, professionalism and discipline in the GAF following the appointment of Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah as CDS due to the effectiveness and competence he exhibited as Commander of the 64 Infantry Regiment up until his tenure as the Chief of the Army Staff. He disclosed the keen interest with which he followed the progress of the CDS and was not surprised about his achievement and encourage him to adhere to the tenets of the constitution as well as collaborate with other security services in order to provide the needed security protection for a successful and peaceful elections in December. The CDS thanked the former President for his guidance and encouragement from the early days as the Commanding Officer of 64 Infantry Regiment till his present appointment to the highest office of CDS. He gave the assurance to continue with the work of his predecessors while working closely with all security services and civil authorities for a peaceful election.Principal staff officers who accompanied the CDS were the Chief of Staff, Major General JP Osei-Owusu, Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) Administration, Air Vice Marshal M Appiah-Agyekum, DCOS Operations and Training, Maj Gen J Aphour, DCOS Logistics, Rear Admiral Agyenim Boateng and the Military Secretary, Col A Osei.
