A Farewell Parade has been held at the Bale Baz Square of 5 Infantry Battalion for Ghana Company 8 (GHANCOY 8) personnel for ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG) on Friday 17 May 2024. The Parade formed part of pre-departure formalities for the command chalk of the Company deploying to The Gambia for a one-year tour of duty. Delivering his address during the parade, the Director General Joint Operations, Brigadier General OJ Ampadu, who was the Reviewing Officer, congratulated the personnel on their nomination to serve with the Mission. He underscored the responsibility that had been bestowed on the Peacekeepers, emphasizing that their conduct in the Mission was key for the preservation of the good reputation of ECOMIG and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). He urged the troops to be worthy ambassadors of Ghana.
