DEVELOPMENT BANK GHANA SUPPORTS CANCER TREATMENT

The Development Bank Ghana (DBG) has donated a cheque amount of One Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵100,000.00) to support cancer treatment at the Oncology Unit of the 37 Military Hospital on Wednesday 13 December, 2023.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of DBG, Mr Michael Mensah Baah said the donation forms part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Bank. He said during the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, staff of the bank decided to raise funds to support the fight against cancer and breast cancer in general.

Mr Baah noted that the mortality rate of cancer patients in the country and especially breast cancer, was alarming hence the decision of the bank to support the fight. He stressed that cancer treatment was transformational and would help save lives. He added that the bank would not only support the Oncology Unit but partner the Unit and continue to pay regular visits to see the progress of patients.

The Commanding Officer (CO) of the 37 Military Hospital, Colonel (Col) Richard Mensah received the donation and thanked the bank for their generosity and assured them its use to the benefit of patients and the Oncology Unit. He added that the donation would bring hope to patients who hitherto cannot afford cancer treatment.

Present were the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Col Francisca Aba Amakyi, CNO Clinical Col Patience Owusu Aidoo, Administrative Officer Medical Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Alex Abiti, Consultant General Surgeon Surgical Unit, Dr Kamar-Uden Lat, Lead for CSR DBG Ms Barbra Wricketts, Compliance Department DBG Mr Ekow Akwaah, Human Capital Department DBG Isaac Kwadwo and Some staff of the Oncology Unit and DBG.
