A 16-member delegation from the Defence Advisors/Attachés Association of Ghana, led by Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Derek Mwendaofyo of Zambia, have visited the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Commodore (Cdre) Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, at ENC on Friday, 26 September 2025. The delegation comprised Defence Attachés and Advisors from the European Union, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Russia and the United States of America. During the visit, Brig Gen Mwendaofyo recognised the remarkable support the Ghana Navy provides in regional stability, emphasizing the shared objectives between the Association and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). He articulated a strong commitment to enhancing multilateral defence cooperation with GAF to address current and emerging security challenges. Cdre Asiedu-Larbi commended the delegation for the visit, highlighting the importance of closer collaboration to boosting operational readiness and strengthening response mechanisms against maritime threats. As part of the visit, the delegation participated in a sea trip, providing an opportunity to observe and assess ENC operations in real-time, thus gaining a comprehensive understanding of its capabilities and operational dynamics. The engagement concluded with the exchange of commemorative plaques, symbolising a mutual commitment to peace, security and sustained cooperative efforts in maritime management.
