The outgoing Commanding Officer (CO) 10 Mechanized Battalion, Col Francis Gyimah has handed over command to incoming CO, Lt Col Godfred Asampong at Aggrey Barracks, 10 Mechanized Battalion in Wa, Upper West Region. The Special Guest of Honour for the occasion, the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon Hafiz Bin Salih, commended the outgoing CO for his commitment, dedication and hard work to discharging his duties as CO. He used the opportunity to welcome the new CO, Lt Col Asampong, and urged him to build on the excellent legacy of his predecessor. The General Officer Northern Command (GOC), Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Matthew Essien, who was the Guest of Honour for the occasion, commended Col Gyimah and congratulated him for his performance. Brig Gen Essien, on the other hand, congratulated the new CO on his appointment and urged him to give off his best. He charged the new CO to train his troops continuously in order to create a robust posture against Violent Extremist Groups and Terrorist Armed Groups especially along the Northern borders. Col Francis Gyimah in his farewell speech appreciated the efforts of the Officers, Soldiers and Defense Civilian Staff who helped to make his tenure a success and admonished them to support the incoming CO.
