The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah has emphasized the crucial role of exhibitions and conferences like the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEC) 2024 in shaping formidable Defence Strategies for Military Forces worldwide. He mentioned the emergence of new technologies such as drones, artificial intelligence, and advanced systems are revolutionizing warfare globally making it essential for nations to keep up with the latest developments. Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah praised IDEC 2024 for providing a unique platform to showcase these technological solutions and innovative ideas vital for National Defence. He added that the exhibition aims to foster regional collaboration and facilitate academic discussions on pressing security threats facing the African continent. 
Speaking at the opening ceremony of IDEC 2024 on Wednesday 28 August 2024 at the Burma Hall, Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah noted, the current regional landscape of military technological advancements and Defence alliances are driven by the conduct of warfare underscoring the significance of such events.
