Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah has urged Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Muslims to preserve the valuable lessons of Ramadan.

This was the CDS’ Eid-Ul-Fitr message read on his behalf by the Deputy Director of Engineering at the Air Force Headquarters, Wing Commander Karim Abdul Razak at the Al Aziz Central Mosque in Burma Camp on Thursday 11 April, 2024.

He extoled Muslim officers, men, women, and Defence Civilian Staff for their successful Ramadan fast, praising their tenacity and perseverance in observing religious rites. He encouraged intercessory prayers for brethren in peace support theatres, departed colleagues, and Ghana's leadership for protection, guidance, and blessing from Allah.

In a sermon, GAF Chief Imam, Najmudeen Mohammed urged the congregation to do good and avoid vices in order to consolidate their gains, as per the Qur'an's teachings on self-restraint. He emphasized the importance of righteousness, self-control and healthy lifestyle, while encouraging Muslims to engage in acts of worship and charity to the needy.

Prior to the Eid celebrations, the CDS distributed 105 packs of sugar, 60 × 25kg bags of rice, 5 cartons of chicken, and cooking oils to Al Aziz Mosque.
