The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, has officially opened the Basic Non-Commission Tactical Course for troops under his command on Monday 29 July, 2024.

In his opening address, the GOC made known that the Basic Non-Commission Tactical Course (BNTC) 1/24 aims to train the soldiers and equip them in order to command and administer a rifle section in peace, war, and counter-insurgency operations. The course is also designed to train participants in minor tactics and the art of leadership at the infantry section and platoon levels.

The 14-week training package had been structured to cover conventional phases such as disaster management, as well as Internal Security, Counter Insurgency, Counter Terrorism, and jungle orientation.

The GOC reiterated the Chief of the Army Staff's vision of professionalism and combat readiness, with a focus on training as the cornerstone. He stated that the COAS devolved the running of the BNTC to the various commands to address the increased numbers of untrained young soldiers in the units.

Brig Gen Tei noted that the current volatile security situation in the sub-region, as well as insecurity in the Bawku territory, means the Ghana Army must remain alert, steadfast, and dedicated to maintaining peace in the country and beyond.

He further urged the students to utilise their time effectively and participate in both classroom and field exercises to ensure they improve their professional knowledge and skills.
