The Minister conveyed the government’s sympathy, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the late airman in safeguarding the country’s airspace and security. He urged the family to take solace in the fact that Sgt Mensah served his nation with honour. Late Sgt Addo, alongside Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and 5 other government officials lost thier lives when the Ghana Air Force Z9 Helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti region. Other officers who were part of Base Cammander's entourage include, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, the Director General Religious Affairs Apostle Brigadier General Benjamin Kumi-wood and Flying Group Commander Group Captain Selase Agbenyefia among others.
The Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi (AFB-TAK), Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi and his entourage have accompanied the Western Regional Minister Honourable Joseph Nelson, to the residence of the wife of late Sergeant(Sgt) Addo Mensah Ernest to commiserate with her on Saturday 9 August 2025.
