The 41st Presidential Guard Changing Ceremony took place at the Forecourt of Jubilee House on Monday 16 September 2024.

The quarterly ceremony saw the Ghana Air Force hand over responsibility to the Ghana Army, emphasizing the importance of alertness, readiness and maximum security at the seat of government.

The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was the guest of honour, accompanied by the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon Frema Opare. Also present were the Honorable Ministers for Defence and Interior, the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, the Inspector-General of Police and other Service Chiefs.

The Forces Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer Addo Daniel in an interaction with AFnews enlightened that the ceremonial guard changing is a thoughtful tradition designed to ensure soldiers' readiness and efficiency in carrying out their duties. He added that the changeover is an administrative action to keep the guards refreshed to maintain the utmost security at their posts.

He reminisced that the age-old ceremony was inaugurated on Wednesday 5 May 2013, when the Jubilee House was relocated to its current premises.

The Ghana Army is now tasked with the responsibility of providing maximum security at the presidency for the next three (3) months.
