The Guest of Honour, Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, noted that competition was to instil discipline, patriotism and teamwork, while enhancing endurance, alertness, and unity among participants. He emphasised the need for participants to be responsible citizens in whichever career path they pursue. The competition saw cadet contingents display their skills in series of drills, Ghana Senior Technical School emerged winners and were presented with a trophy, plaque, certificate, and a cash prize of about GH₵5,000. The participating schools were Takoradi Technical Institute, Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School (SHS), Shama SHS, Fijai SHS, Takoradi SHS, Sekondi College, St John’s SHS, Archbishop Porter Girls’ School, and Ghana Senior Technical School. The Western Naval Command has on Friday 12 September 2025, hosted an inter-schools cadet drill competition at the Western Naval Command Drill Square, Sekondi to mark this year’s Ghana Navy Memorial Day Celebration.
