The Defence Attaché (DA) of Burkina Faso to Ghana, Colonel Yves-Patrick Ouedraogo, has paid a courtesy call on the Acting Commandant of the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Charles Agyeman Prempeh, on Thursday 5 September 2024 at Whistler Barracks, Teshie.

The visit aimed to introduce Colonel Ouedraogo as the new DA, strengthen bilateral diplomatic ties between Ghana and Burkina Faso, and explore avenues for deeper collaboration between the two countries.

Brig Gen Agyeman Prempeh welcomed and congratulated Colonel Ouedraogo on his appointment as Defence Attaché, assuring him of support and cooperation during his tenure. The Commandant emphasised that collaboration between both countries would enhance the protection of their territorial integrity and address security threats from the Sahel region. He also mentioned that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has been training Officers in the French language to facilitate smoother interactions during joint exercises and operations.

In response, Colonel Ouedraogo expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised the GAF for its significant contribution to training Burkinabe Officers through past exchange programmes between Cadets of the GMA and the Burkina Faso Military Academy. He called for a revival of such collaborations to benefit both countries.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a plaque by the Commandant to Colonel Ouedraogo to commemorate the occasion.
