The Ghana Armed Forces Central Band (AFCB) held a handing and taking over ceremony at the AFCB Unit Parade Square, Butler Lines, to mark a change of command on Thursday 5 September 2024.

The ceremony celebrated the command transition and highlighted the band's essential role in promoting national pride and unity through music. It commenced with a vibrant musical parade by the central band, followed by the formal introduction of the outgoing and incoming Directors, high-ranking officials, and the Armed Forces Magajias Association of Ghana.

In his farewell address, the outgoing Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Gerard Mawah, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the unit for their unwavering support during his tenure. He acknowledged the band's contributions to various national events and ceremonies, as well as key achievements during his time in office, including the establishment of quadruple single-room accommodations for soldiers and the formation of an orchestra band, among other significant milestones.

 

Commander, Headquarters Support Services Command, Brigadier General Selassie Gagakuma, praised Lieutenant Colonel Mawah for his exemplary service and highlighted the inevitability of change in any organisation. He encouraged the incoming Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Randolph Tawiah, to build on the band's achievements and uphold the responsibilities entrusted to him.
