S/COMD GOC COMMISSIONS 1 INFANTRY BATTALION’S NEW POULTRY FARM

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, has commissioned a modern 985-bird poultry farm at the 1 Infantry Battalion (1BN) on Friday 12 December 2025.

The initiative forms part of the Ghana Armed Forces’ nationwide commercial farming drive, which includes poultry and other agricultural ventures, aimed at enhancing self-sufficiency in food production and contributing to the national supply chain.

Brigadier General Paintsil commissioning the facility underscored 1BN’s commitment to innovation, strengthening operational resilience while supporting broader national food security objectives.

The project is being implemented under the Defence Industries Department (DID), reflects the military’s strategic focus on sustainable agriculture and economic diversification.
