Dikan Centre; a museum and cultural space for celebrating, preserving, and sharing African/Ghanaian heritage has held a photo exhibition when it launched the AWO Institute and Dikan Ahenfie on Saturday 13 December 2025.
The photo exhibition under the theme “Preserving Ghana: The Living Archives of a Nation” displayed historical archives that dates back to 1900s, curated by the Executive Director of Dikan Ahenfie, Paul Ninson.
The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA), Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, commended the Dikan Centre, its collaborating institutions and the families whose stories have been preserved, for their commitment to safeguarding the cultural memory of Ghana.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Acting Director General of the Department of Public Relations, Captain (GN) Veronica Adzo Arhin, expressed appreciation to the Centre and its partners for their professional and creative contributions to the preservation of the heritage of the Ghana Armed Forces.
She stated that GAF was proud of their partnership with Dikan, describing it as a model collaboration which over the past year, has resulted in the processing, conservation and digitisation of more than 70 million GAF records. She added that the organisation has also built the capacityof GAF personnel to manage and safeguard its archival materials.
Captain (GN) Adzo Arhin further described her participation in the Dikan Photo Art Exhibition as a privilege, noting that it serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of memory, heritage and innovation. She added that the exhibition offers the public rare access to materials that were previously inaccessible or at risk of being lost.
