The Ghana Army has won this year’s Inter-Services Shooting competition at the Yaohima Gallery Range in Sunyani.
The three day competition, codenamed, “Ex-Fireblast” was held from Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 November 2018, and aimed at exchanging training ideas, fostering cooperation, promoting a healthy competition and esprit de corps within all ranks of the Armed Forces.
The event saw participating teams drawn from the Army, Navy and Air Force competing in the M16 (Standard), M16 (Carbine), Pistol and Falling Plates practices.
In a matchup to climax the competition, Air Force Team B surpassed Army Team A in the finals of the Fallen Plate Practice.
Ghana Army emerged winners with a total of 2460 points with Ghana Air Force placing second with 2434 points. The Ghana Navy gained a total of 2093 points occupying the third position. Cpl Ayensu Bentil (Air Force) and L/Cpl Adjei Eugenia (Army) were adjudged the Overall Best Male and Female respectively.
The Minister for Defence, Hon Dominic Nitiwul, the Deputy Regional Minister-designate for Brong Ahafo region, Mr Evans Opoku-Bobie, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), AVM MMT Nagai and the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Peter Kofi Faidoo amongst others dignitaries were present to grace the occasion.
