The final funeral rites of the late Brigadier General Walter Kwasi Amanie (Rtd) has been held at the Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church in Burma Camp on Friday, 23 November 2018.
The Officiating Minister, Rev Capt (GN) Paul Adjei- Djan in his exaltation described the late Brig Gen Amanie as a God-fearing person, a good teacher and urged all to live right on earth as judgment awaits us.
The late Brigadier General Walter Kwasi Amanie belonged to the Intake 9 Regular Career Course of the Ghana Military Academy. He graduated in October 1967 as a commissioned officer with the rank of a Second Lieutenant. He worked diligently and rose through the ranks to become a Brigadier General. He held various Command and Staff appointments including, Commanding Officer, Reconnaissance Regiment, Director (Administration), Army headquarters, Chief Operations Officer Headquarters, ECOWAS Ceasefire Monitoring Group in Liberia and Defense adviser, Ghana Embassy, Egypt.
He was honorably released from active service on 14 March 2008 to end his meteoric military career of excellence.
The occasion brought together family, friends, the Military High Command, Retired Officers, identifiable groups and sympathizers.
