8 November 2018. A funeral service for the late Brigadier-General Gilbert Salifu Yakubu has been held at the Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church (GMPC) at Burma Camp on Thursday, 8 November 2018.
The late Brig Gen passed on at the 37 Military Hospital on Tuesday, 25 September 2018 in Accra after a short illness.
The Officiating Minister, Rev Dr Fred Deegbee consoled the family of the late General and sympathizers present charging all to be prepared to give good accounts of their lives when the day of reckoning comes. He described Brig Gen Yakubu as a good man whose works would serve him a better place.
Late Brig Gen Gilbert Yakubu commissioned into the Ghana Armed Forces on 19 August 1988 and was first posted to the 66 Artillery Regiment and was appointed a Troop leader and Battery Commander. He became an Instructor and a Directing Staff at the Army Combat Training School (ACTS) from 1998 to 2006. From January 2010 to February 2011 he became the Deputy Director, Administration at the Army Headquarters.
The Late Brig Gen was appointed the Deputy Commander (ACTS), from July 2011 to August 2014 and also appointed as the Director, Administration in February 2015 to February 2016. His last appointment in the military was Commander, Ghana Military Academy from April 2017 until his demise.
The funeral service was attended by the Minister for Defence, Hon Dominic Nitiwul the Military High Command, Senior Officers, Old Students of Tamale Secondary School, Ministers of State and sympathizers.
The late Brig Gen Yakubu was interred at the Military Cemetery at Burma Camp and was survived by his wife, Mrs Patricia Quarshie-Yakubu.
