3 October 2018. The Chief of Staff (COS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Rear Admiral Moses Beick-Baffoe has emphasized that GAF will still collaborate with the Nigerian Armed Forces by building strong relations through joint training.
“We will still collaborate and fill the discrepancies and vacancies within the training sector in the Armed Forces, “he said.
Rear Admiral Beick-Baffoe made these statements in his office at Burma Camp on Wednesday, 3 October, 2018 when the Nigerian Defence Attaché (DA) to Ghana, Col Hamidu D Bobbo paid him a visit.
He stressed on the need to tighten their security belt by training harder to counter terrorism and other security threats. He stated that Ghana and Nigerian relationship dated back since ECOMOG days and training activities.
The Chief of Staff requested the DA and his Deputy, Lt Col Suleman Abba-Tukur to monitor activities of The Ghana Traders Union Association (GUTA) and ECOWAS protocol and take further steps in addressing some of their issues.
The Nigeria Defence Attaché expressed his gratitude to COS for his warm reception saying his visit was to introduce himself as the new DA and his Deputy to the COS.
He stated that, he also represent as DA to Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Liberia and Sierra Leone. His outfit collaborates with the Nigeria High Commission in areas of training and play host to Military Defence Intelligence and Agencies.
As part of his visit, they called on the Director General Training, Air Commodore Isaac Wayoe at his office where he made a proposal to the DA for a slot to be provided to enable GAF’s Senior Officers enroll into their War College. He also requested for the training of Engineers and Supply troops in special courses.
