2 April 2019. The Commander, German Engineer Training Centre, who doubles as the General of German Engineer Corps to Ghana, Brigadier General Lutz Erich Niemann, has paid a maiden visit to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen OB Akwa on Tuesday 2 April 2019, at Burma Camp.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss issues of bilateral co-operation and also conduct an inspection of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG).
Brigadier General LE Niemann, in his submission, acknowledged Ghana Armed Force’s (GAF) determination to participate in the courses offered at the German Engineer Training Centre to enable them acquire more knowledge which would be of benefit in the near future. He further assured GAF of German’s continuous support for the projects at the Engineer Training School (ETS).
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), in response expressed his appreciation to the German Training Command and their government for supporting GAF in terms of infrastructure. This, he said, had developed the cordial, mutual and beneficial relations between both countries.
CDS noted that their support had helped to build skills at ETS in technical projects and looked forward to a deepened cooperation and support by having regular meetings and review of projects. He also wished for a continued cordial relationship which would benefit the two countries.
Before visiting the CDS, Brig Gen LE Niemann toured the GHQ (DI), Base Workshop, ETS, MP Dog Training Centre, Shiashie and Mobile HQ for ECOWAS.
