Shawns Model Montessori Visits RECCE Regiment

29 June 2018.    Pupils of the Shawns Model Montessori on Friday 29 June 2018 visited the RECCE Regiment as part of events marking the school’s carrier day.  The pupils arrived at the regiment at the exactly 1100hrs together with their teachers where they were briefed and taken round by the Admin Officer Second Lieutenant Lesley Fanyinka.

The pupils were briefed on the various types of armoured vehicles used by the regiment. According to Second Lt Fanyinka, Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) and the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) were the two main armoured vehicles used by the Recce Squadron of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). He further explained how the regiment carries out reconnaissance to ensure both internal and external peace.

Corporal Amoabeng Osei George took the pupils through the operations of the Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV), whiles Sergeant Bluvi James took them through the operations of the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).

The pupils were finally taken to the 3 mounted Squadron of the RECCE Regiment where they were taken through the various types of horses at the Squadron by the officer in charge Lt Micheal Kotah. The pupils were finally taken through a horse riding session by the Admin Warrant Officer (WO1) Stephen Boateng.

The headmistress of the school Miss Christiana Afeli thanked the Officers, men and women of the RECCE Regiment for giving them the opportunity. The officer in charge gave his closing remarks and took some pictures with the pupils.
