4 June 2018. The family of the Late Major Mahama has paid a visit to the President His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to thank him for his support since the demise of their beloved son, at the Jubilee House on Monday 4 June 2018.
Mr Ahmed Zakaria who led the family to pay the visit pleaded with the President to ensure that major reforms of the law was espoused in order to ensure that fair trial and justice was reached. The family however made a request that the death of their beloved should pave the way for such reforms to be made.
His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo assured them that major reforms of the law had been carried out as a result of tragedies that had occurred, adding that, the tragic death of Late Major Mahama could be a vehicle through which essential reforms to the country’s 1960 criminal code would be made.
It will be recalled that the late Major Mahama met his untimely and tragic death during his line of duty at Denkyira Oboase in the Central Region where he was attacked and killed instantly by an angry mob in May last year.
