Drill and Duties Course 1-19 Ends

The Army Combat Training School (ACTS) has held a graduation parade for 56 personnel on Friday 12 July 2019 at the Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS) Addico Square, Teshie.

The 12-week Course had participants drawn from the Army, Navy and Air Force and sister security services; Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Customs Division.

The ultimate objective of the course was to prepare the graduants with the requisite knowledge to assist in training at the various institutions for total manpower development in the security services. It also aimed at broadening their outlook in matters of general knowledge in unit administration and the norms of the profession.

The Reviewing Officer, Director General Plans Research and Development, Brig Gen Richard Addo Gyane stated that the hierarchy of the security services, particularly GAF had traditionally and truly depended on drill and duties which is an indispensable link between the Officer Corps and the Junior Ranks.

He reminded the graduands that as SNCOS, they formed an important part of the chain of Command and therefore, must always be privy of their contributions and leadership roles required of them by Command. He implored them to share the additional knowledge they had acquired with their colleagues in the various Services.

Deserving graduands were awarded. The Army Training Command (ATRAC) Commander’s Award which is awarded to the Overall Best on the Drill and Duties Course went to S/Sgt Cobbina Davis of the Ghana Army (GA). RAI David Owusu Duncan from the GRA, Customs Division received the Best Allied Award and S/Sgt Sumaila Dennis Aladiba of the GA received the ACTS Commander’s Prize whilst the Forces Sergeant Major (FSM) Award was awarded to S/SGT Gomado Michael Cofie also from the GA.
