Lt Col Prince Tandoh Takes Over as CO 5BN

Lt Col Prince Tandoh has taken over as Commanding Officer (CO) of 5BN during a handing and taking over ceremony on Friday, 17 July 2020 at the Bale Baz Square in Arakan Barracks, Accra.

He succeeds Col Seth Gyekyi Odei who will be steering affairs as Director Training of Defence Intelligence (DI).

 The Guest of Honour for the ceremony, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command Brigadier General Yeboah Abraham Nsiah, stated that the out-going Commanding Officer (CO), Col Seth  Gyekyi Odei had worked tirelessly to ensure the unit was positioned in a better stead, to play its assigned role within the Ghana Armed Forces. He said, “I commend you, your Officers and Men for the vital role in the maintenance of peace and security in the areas within Accra and beyond. Your steadfastness and determination to succeed in the midst of operational and administrative challenges are worth mentioning.”

He disclosed that, he personally witnessed the zeal and desire that the outgoing CO exhibited in the pursuit of lasting peace in certain parts of Accra in Operation Calmlife, Operation Vanguard, Operation Peace Trail and Operation COVID safety.

Brigadier General Nsiah congratulated him for a successful tenure and wished him well in his new appointment.

Col Seth Gyekyi Ode in his farewell address, expressed appreciation to the CDS, past and current GOC Southern Command, Officers, RSM and other key appointment holders and the entire 5BN unit for their fraternity. He noted that, with the collective efforts of all “Lions” he was able to double the capacity of renovating some projects in the unit.

He said the unit had maintained good relations with the civil populace which had enhanced Civil/ Military relations operation. He entreated all to ensure the protection of the peace in the unit and accord the new CO the necessary assistance.
